No eating/drinking on MRT?!?!?!?!

Wow...4 months since I last updated this blog...

I was reading yesterday's New Paper and saw the article on where you get fined for eating or drinking in the MRT. Not even sweets or just a sip of water. It's gonna cost you $30 for the first time. Medication? Approach the staff...

Let's see.....

On a train to somewhere...not even close to a train station yet...

Old Man : Hhhhheeelllllllppppp......I've got a heart attack, I need my medication ! It's in my pocket...

Passenger 1 : Quick ! Somebody help ! Uncle, no scared, I got your medicine with me liao...

Old Man : I can't swallow without water...

Passenger 1 : Anyone with water ???

ALL passengers in train : No wor...MRT say cannot drink or eat...bring water for wat?

MRT Staff : Can I help?

Passenger 1 : You got water or not?

MRT Staff : Don't have...As a SMRT staff, I must set a good example to all commuters and...

Passenger 1 : DIAM LAH ! don't have say don't have, don't talk so much...so now how? Uncle, you try swallow the medicine without water...

Old Man : Okok..i try

MRT Staff : Sorry ah uncle...cannot eat or drink in the train...why not you wait till the train stops at the next station and we carry you outside so you can eat your medicine?

Passenger 1 : Where got time? Wah lau eh

MRT Staff : Ok..I go intercom and ask...wait ah...

The following day, New Paper headlines...

Elderly Man dies of heart attack in MRT due to the No Eating/Drinking rule.

So...what happens when this type of scenario happens? Just a sip of water cannot drink, eat sweet cannot eat, eat medicine must ask staff...And for those who think that the MRT rule is not strict at all, think again. Think carefully. The above scenario can happen to anyone...

I mean, eating noodles or curry puffs or popiah are indeed too much. Sweets like Mentos, clorets, don't even have wrappers ! Just pop one into the mouth and keep the rest. It's not like we are gonna spit out the sweets...

New York City is fining people for not giving up their seats to the needy. Singapore is considering to enforce this rule. Don't even think of it. It's ridiculous. Sure, some Singaporeans are inconsiderate, but I believe these are the minorities.

People like taking pictures of other people occupying 2 seats or leaning their butt on poles or putting their things on empty seats denying other people a seat. Post it on the internet and people start criticising those inconsiderate people.

Why haven't anyone take pictures of someone giving up their seats to the elderly or needy?

Why haven't anyone take pictures of someone helping blind people cross the road?

Why haven't anyone take pictures of someone helping the needy board the bus?

Why haven't anyone take pictures of someone helping to inform blind people of the number of the approaching bus?

I'm sure all of us have seen some or even all of the above. But nobody remembers them.

Singapore is already a FINE city liao...pls don't add somemore fines lah...

Think about it...
