Top 10 albums that changed my life !

After reading Beez's 10 top albums that changed his life in the Metal Hammer column, I was inspired to my own top 10.

1) Black (Metallica) - The album that got me into thrash metal, or possibly metal itself. The opening drums of Enter Sandman got me hooked.

2) Youthanasia (Megadeth) - My favourite band ! My very first Megadeth album, and the album that got me hooked onto Megadeth and there's no turning back. From then on, I've got all the Megadeth albums. The way Megadeth changed the rhythm of the songs is just simply incredible, and not to mention their amazing guitar riffs. All hail Dave Mustaine !!!

3) Divine Intervention (Slayer) - My very first heavy metal album !!! To be honest, I was captivated by the album cover, and that was what prompted me to buy it. Out of the Big 4 of Thrash metal, only Anthrax doesn't appeal to me. Don't ask me why. I also don't know.

4) Crossroads (Bon Jovi) - What can I say? One of the greatest rock band's compilation.

5) 大地 (Beyond) - Heard the album in Sec 1 and never looked back since. One of Asia's greatest rock bands (Mayday not even in their league). An inspiration to many people who listened to them, including me.

6) The Great Southern Trendkill (Pantera) - I still remember I bought this album at CD-Rama at AMK. Listened to it on the way home. The opening vocals was enough to draw me into listening to this album over and over again. Super under-rated album.

7) Countdown To Extinction (Megadeth) - One of my favourite albums. One of my favourite songs. And one of my favourite album cover. Read the lyrics. Go on. You love it.

8) Theli (Therion) - Knew about this band when a 3rd Sgt in my unit passed me this cd. It was mindblowing to hear heavy metal mixed with orchestral elements, employing use of choirs and classical musicians. Can be considered one of the pioneers of symphonic metal.

9) Wishmaster (Nightwish) - My favourite symphonic metal band. Simply fascinating to hear heavy metal music, with the heavy use of keyboards (Tuomas Holopainen is a genius) and female soprano. And of course, Jukka Nevalainen's double pedalling does help alot!

10) The Graveyard (King Diamond) - I bought the album cos of the album name. Sounds dark and gloomy. It was during the trial and error period of my heavy metal journey. Buy first, then decide if I like the sound of it or not. And luckily for this album, I fell in love with King Diamond. When I first heard King Diamond sing, I was like,"Fucking amazing voice !" He sings in falsetto and mid-range vocals. Fucking amazing to me, even till this day. It was also the first concept album that I've heard.
